Introduction

Our digital newspaper collection offers a rich archive of primary source materials, capturing the events, opinions, and daily lives of people throughout Somerset County history. It includes searchable full-text of The Crisfield Post (1935-1936, 1955-1959), the Crisfield Times (1907-1985), the Marylander and Herald (1912-1985), the Somerset Herald (1987-2004), and the Village Herald (as such from 1827- May 1838, as the Herald from June - August 1838, and as the Somerset Herald from September 1838 through 1840).

Additional newspapers - the Crisfield Times (1987-2009) / County Times (2010-present) and the Somerset Herald (1989-2014) are held at the Princess Anne Library.

This digital collection also contains Somerset County Administrator's Records (1685-1785) and Judicial Records (1701-1792) which, due to being handwritten, are not included in full-text searching.
